CASANERA

The Corsican Art of Excellence

Heir to an ancestral Corsican tradition, Casanera embodies authentic savoir-faire.

What began as a small artisanal brand has grown into a House of excellence recognized in the world of perfumery and beauty. Its expertise, passed down from generation to generation, reflects a profound respect for heritage and craftsmanship.

Founded by Marie Ceccaldi, Casanera preserves precious family recipes known only to her. Each cosmetic and fragrance is designed in Corsica, rooted in the purest tradition.

The essential oils are derived from medicinal flowers and plants handpicked from the Corsican maquis, selected for their potency and richness. From these rare and powerful essences, Casanera creates fragrances and skincare rituals that express the soul of the island.

Maria Battaglia, the Corsican radiance of jewelry.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
‘I’m the co-founder and president of Casanera, and I’m also the designer behind Maria Battaglia, the island’s first fine jewelry brand.’

What experiences have shaped your perspective on jewelry and luxury?
‘I’ve always been drawn to the world of luxury because of its emphasis on rarity, authenticity, exclusivity, and the constant pursuit of high quality.’

What inspired you to create your brand?
‘The memory of my mother wearing a beautiful diamond cross when I was a child.’

How would you describe elegance and refinement in jewelry design?
‘I see it as a balance of strong style, subtle details, and a timeless appeal, all designed to enhance the femininity of the wearer.’

How do these ideas influence your choice of materials, designs, and finishes for your jewelry?
‘My collections are an ode to my homeland, Corsica, through the interpretation of its cultural symbols and legends. Each of my pieces is designed to evoke emotion and is crafted using techniques that ensure their longevity.’

Your work feels like a perfect blend of the old and the new. How do you manage to balance tradition and modernity?
‘I’m part of a generation that’s very much a product of the 21st century, but I also come from a family with deep roots in our island’s culture. So it’s only natural that my work reflects this unique combination.’

Which traditional jewelry-making techniques do you keep alive, and how do you give them a modern twist?
‘The fundamental techniques of jewelry making haven’t changed much over the centuries, but new digital tools have opened up exciting possibilities in design and production. Still, the heart and soul of each piece I create comes from the human touch.’

How do you see jewelry enhancing an outfit?
‘A truly exceptional piece of jewelry can become the focal point of an entire look, to the point where it could replace the outfit altogether. It’s the emotion it evokes that makes this possible, allowing the woman wearing it to shine without needing any other adornment.’

How would you describe the synergy between your creative world and Amavia Collection?
‘Whether it’s a home, an object, a piece of art, or even a simple child’s drawing, creativity always stems from the same place: a human being. When someone designs a beautiful home or creates a piece of jewelry, they’re using their right brain to evoke emotion and create a space or object that makes people feel something special.’

If you had to choose a space or object in an Amavia Collection villa, which would it be?
‘I’d pick a mirror. Mirrors are so much more than just reflective surfaces. They’re symbols of truth, self-discovery, and even a bit of narcissism. For centuries, we’ve been drawn to mirrors because they show us both what we can see and what lies beneath the surface.’
